Base-Camping
Establishing a base-camp from which to observe wildlife and to make shorter hikes into the surrounding country can be a good alternative for groups of mixed ability or for those who are uncertain about their ability to travel from point-to-point in the Refuge.
This can also be a good way of observing caribou and other animals as they move through an area or simply of observing the minutiae of the land and life in the Refuge.
Because the places where I might drop your party for a base-camping trip are likely to be utilized by other groups, traveling with equipment and supplies suitable for moving some nominal distance from the airstrip will improve your chances of solitude.
